Eid Al-Fitr: A Celebration of Gratitude

The holy month of Ramadan ends with the festival, Eid Al-Fitr. The daily fasting streak of 30 days (from sunrise to sunset) during Ramadan comes to an end on this day, that’s why Eid Al-Fitr is also known as the festival of “Breaking the Fast”.

This is the day when millions of Muslims around the world gather with their family and friends to greet each other. They all offer morning prayers to Allah, donate to the charity, and have feasts together.

Eid is not only about the celebration of Allah, but it also gives us the opportunity to reflect on Ramadan and all other wonderful things in our lives with which we are blessed.

Gratitude for Food

When people refrain themselves from eating and drinking in the daytime during Ramadan, they quickly realize how blessed they are to have the choice of eating and drinking.

During Eid Al-Fitr, families and friends exchange sweets and other food items, go to the markets, and give food to the ones’ who are less fortunate than others.

The celebration of joy and gratefulness for the blessings of daily life continues during the festival of Eid.

Gratitude for Health

To millions of Muslims, Eid is a festival for offering thanks to Allah for giving them the strength to fast, power for self-control, and to be able to practice resilience against all the prohibited things during the time of Ramadan.

Most of us take our health for granted during our everyday life and hectic schedule. Whereas Ramadan is a month in which all the people realize how it is so important to slow down in the fast-moving world, to eat well and healthy in the evenings, and take care of their health, body, mind, and soul.

We all know that fasting is not an easy task from any sense and the festival of Eid is a celebration for not only having the required strength and will to do this but also of health.

Gratitude for Family

The best part of any festival is having family and friends together during happy moments. Eid Al-Fitr is also a festive occasion which we celebrate by spending much of our time with our family and friends.

The modern world is all about living in a fast-paced society where most of us are constantly busy with our work and day-to-day responsibilities.

Most of the time we do not even find enough time to spend it with the people that we dearly love, and this is very unfortunate. This is where Eid as a festive occasion encourages and brings Muslims together as a community. They cherish this joyous moment together by greeting each other, sharing sweets, and inviting friends over for meals at their homes.

Eid Al-Fitr is a festival during which we realize there are so many reasons to be grateful and each year, the month of Ramadan teach us something new about ourselves. But most importantly people spend this festival together to celebrate life.
