World Youth Skills Day is celebrated on July 15 and is one of new UN International Days of Observance. It was established by the UN General Assembly on November 11, 2014, to emphasize the importance of youth skill development at the international level.

It focuses on raising awareness about the importance of investing in youth skills development, WYSD celebrations coincide with an important year of setting the agenda for the future: a new climate agreement and the adoption of the Sustainable Development goals are just around the corner.
World Youth Skills Day seeks to generate awareness of, and discussion on the importance of technical, vocational education, training, and the development of other skills relevant to local and global economy. It is hoped that the discourse will contribute to address issues surrounding unemployment and under-employment among the youth. Indian Government has mandated the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship to coordinate with industry bodies to skills day observance and industry participation
