Diwali – The Festival of Lights and Victory of God Over Evil

Diwali – A Festival of Jubilance and Euphoria

India is a melting pot of different cultures, religions, and festivals. All the festivals are celebrated with great zeal and pomp. Starting with the festival of Lohri in January to Christmas in December, all the festivals are a matter of immense joy and happiness.

We bring to you some of the less explored and interesting facts about the colorful festival of Deepawali.

Why do we Celebrate Diwali?

Entering the last months of the year means celebrating one of the most awaited festivals of “Diwali”. This festival has a significance associated with it and is observed as one of the biggest and important holidays of the year. The festival is an outcome of two different reasons in the Northern and Southern parts of the country.

In Northern India, the festival has it roots attached to the mythological sacred book of Ramayana. The return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating King Ravana was celebrated with the lighting of diyas (clay lamps).

However, in Southern India, it is celebrated as the day when Lord Krishna defeated a demon named Narakasura. In short, the festival embarks the beginning of new things and triumphs of good over evil.

Bursting Crackers – A Growing Concern

Well! what is Diwali without bursting crackers, isn’t it?!? But don’t forget that our Mother Earth is an abode to millions of people. We are solely responsible to maintain the right balance in the environment which does not harm the health of its residents.

With the growing concerns of Global Warming, poor Air Quality Index, polluted water bodies, and an alarming increase in the amount of waste including E-waste generated, we need to change our perspectives and work on our actions.

Working in this direction, introduction of Green Crackers having a comparatively lesser hazardous chemical composition is an initiative which should be supported. This would help in reducing the emission level.

This time celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali to decrease pollution and promote healthy living.
